Malicious URLs Preferred

We are all pretty familiar with phishing emails and about not clicking on the link provided in them, but do you know why we emphasize the “do not click” mentality? Well, here is the reason why, 88% of malicious emails use a malicious URL link, this is according to Proofpoint.

Part of good cybersecurity for a small business is about training and awareness. It is important to understand how the cyberattacks are occurring, this allows you to better safeguard against them. Knowing that malicious URL links are super prevalent in phishing emails, it allows us to better protect ourselves from them. We can deploy tools that will attempt to open the link in a safe environment thus never allowing the malicious payload to execute, or we can simply not click the link.
