Survey says, employees put employers at risk

Recent research from Microsoft says employees are still the weakest link in the cybersecurity of a business. Microsoft found that almost half of those surveyed received no cybersecurity training within the past 12 months. The survey also found that a third of those employees who work from home used personal email for work related or customer information storage.

Research like this is important as it reflects where small businesses can improve their cybersecurity posture. Training employees to recognize phishing emails, instructing them on how to create strong passwords, where to properly store customer and other business data, and training on other cybersecurity concerns can drastically reduce your risk from a cybersecurity attack. Minimizing the element of human error will strengthen the small business’s cybersecurity program.
