Most Online Fraud Occurs in U.S.
A recent Experian survey finds the US suffers the most from online fraud. Experian polled 1,000 large companies and around 10,000 consumers in 21 different countries and concluded eight of ten businesses reported online fraud within the last 12 months. Experian stated this is because of the large target rich environment found in the US as compared to the other countries.
As a small business owner or employee, it is important to stay vigilant of potential phishing emails, online scams, bad websites, fake phone calls, etc. Some of the best ways to protect the small business is by having strong and complex passwords, limiting access to data to only those who need access, employee cybersecurity training, and by having properly configured firewalls and anti-virus solutions.
