This is a cyber-attack you probably did not hear about last week. On March 6, Windows defender blocked 80,000 attacks on Windows based computers. In total more than 400,000 instances of the attack have been recorded since then. Windows Defender quickly analyzed the malware and sent commands to block it within minutes of its discovery. Dofoil is a crypto-mining malware that runs in the “background” slowing your computer down, unbeknownst to you.

This helps show the importance of having up-to-date anti-virus and anti-malware software installed on your computer. New threats are created and deployed every day and having a software that is consistently updated can help prevent new threats from becoming more serious. The positives of this software far outweigh any of the perceived negatives.
